Botany scenario in the world is changing rapidly and dynamically. To prepare the students for this competitive field of science, to the curriculum and syllabi is crafted to impart current advancement and understanding about plants along with basic knowledge about research and thus, provide about a substantial basic foundation of botany in our students. The department constantly provides the latest developments in the fields of pharmaceutical, bio-pharmaceutical, and drug discovery sectors, healthcare, diagnostic and therapeutic, plant sciences, and environmental sectors along with the core subjects.
The department of Botany was established in 2015. The department of Botany has well equipped laboratory. The dynamic and visionary contributions of several renowned botanists earned the Department international recognition for its teaching and research in plant morphology, development and embryology.
We believe in academic excellence through value based education, which is conduct to boost the inherent capabilities and confidence of the students to take up the challenges of the rapidly changing world. Our Department faculty members are highly experienced and dedicated. We have produced centum result in all the academic year. B.Sc. Botany
Candidate for admission to the first year of the degree of Bachelor of Science Course shall be required to have passed the Higher secondary examination (Academic or vocational stream with Botany/Biology along with Chemistry under higher secondary board of examination Stream) conducted by the Government of Tamil Nadu or an Examination accepted by the Syndicate, Subject to such conditions may be prescribed therefore shall be permitted to appear and qualify for B.Sc. degree examination in Botany.
M.Sc. Botany
A candidate who has passed Bachelor of Vocational in Botany or Br.V (a) Botany Vocational – Biotechnology or B.Sc. B.Ed. Botany (Integrated Programme) or any of the above degree of any other University accepted by the syndicate as equivalent, thereto subject to such condition as may be prescribed therefore shall be permitted to appear examination and qualify for M. Sc. degree in Botany at Periyar University after a course of study of two academic years.
